Arachne (Worsted)

Arachne is a worsted weight blend of wool and silk that has a velvet-y squish and luxurious drape. The natural subtle sheen of Shaniko wool is elevated by the luminous glow of silk in this gorgeous blend. Quickly weave a beautiful web for yourself using this 3-ply yarn.

Content: 80% Non-superwash Shaniko (Merino/Rambouillet) Wool (Responsible Wool Standard certified), 20% mulberry silk.

Origin: The wool is grown on a Shaniko Wool Company ranch in California, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, or Nevada and milled in North Carolina; the silk comes from a supplier in Jiangsu Zhejiang, China. The silk suppliers used by my mill have been vetted by them to ensure fair labor and environmentally sound production practices are used.

Ply: 3-ply.

Length and Weight: 220 yards or 200 metres per 100 grams. Worsted.

Special Facts: Has a natural shine and luminance. Very relaxed and drapey while still maintaining a round structure that shows off stitches and textured work like cables beautifully. Arachne is noticeably soft and smooth in the hand, with a delightful squish around your needle or hook. It is my favorite yarn to crochet with.

Best For: Fashionable garments and large cable or lace shawls. Arachne has beautiful definition in colorwork, making it an excellent yarn choice for adding a fashionable-but-comfortable fit to circular yoke colorwork projects that sometimes feel like too much fabric at the armpits.
