Welcome, fiber friend!

I'm so happy that you're here. Hubris Hearthcraft began in my kitchen, where I accidentally discovered a love of dyeing yarn while attempting to create my perfect shade of green for a sweater. What started as a chemistry experiment quickly turned into a passion that took over my life (and apartment!)

My dream is to spread joy through fiber and community connection. Each skein of yarn is still lovingly dyed by me in the kitchen of my tiny apartment in Portland, Oregon. My hope is that you will see the colors that have come from my heart and that they will resonate with you, too. I want you to feel delight at each step of your crafting journey, and to keep and love your finished object for as long as it serves you, perhaps even allowing it to become an heirloom that will be cherished for generations to come. With that in mind, every yarn I carry is selected carefully, with comfort, durability, and sustainability in mind. Each of my bases is a personal favorite of mine to work with, and I hope it will become one for you, too.

My focus is on non-superwash yarns that meet the Responsible Wool Standard, dyed in whimsical colorways meant to match the magic and skill that goes into every handmade garment, accessory, and trinket you create. Yarn is the main ingredient in the crafty magic we weave (or knit, or crochet...) and I believe that the feelings invoked by our yarn should support the intention we're putting into every stitch. One subset of alchemy is transmutation, the study of turning base metals into gold. To me, fiber crafts are the most amazing kind of everyday alchemy or magic, because we transform a pile of fiber and a beautiful idea into a finished object.
