Aconitum - Choice of Base

A vibrant, semi-solid mid-toned purple with flashes of fuchsia throughout. Meant to invoke wolfsbane petals in the early morning sunlight, when faeries drink dew and the sun and moon are both still in the sky. Dyed to order in the base of your choice.

Aconitum columbianum is a native wildflower of the Pacific northwest. It has large, spindly leaves and hooded flowers which explain its nickname - "monkshood". There are over 250 species of Aconitum native to North America, Asia, and Europe, which explains its long and varied history as a poison, a folk medicine (do not touch or ingest wolfsbane - remember what I just said about the poison thing!), and as a magical ingredient. You've likely heard of wolfsbane as an herb used to ward off werewolves, but did you know that Aconite was used by Athena to transform Arachne into a spider for her hubris?

Now, here's a question for you to consider - If a witch plants wolfsbane in their garden, do you suppose it's meant to ward off the wandering wolves, or draw them in...?
